A Trip To The Wilbur Dam | welcome to my happy place

Hi, love bugs! I hope you all are fighting off the Monday blues, like myself.

My boyfriend and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to our local dam today — aka our happy place. Ever since we discovered this little gem on a map a year ago, we haven’t been able to stay away. Any chance we get, we go.

Just look at that view! How could you stay away?

Since it is winter time with chances of rain today, it definitely gave me an emo/tranquil feel (cue the Twilight soundtrack), but this is my favorite type of weather, tbh. Trees and cloudy days keep me calm, cool, and collected.

This little picnic area is definitely my favorite part of the dam because it has a small waterfall across the river. Plus, you can dip your toes in the water (when it’s warmer, of course), and I often hang up my Eno hammock on the trees for maximum relaxation. It’s a fantastic place to read, as well — the biggest plus of them all — and Destin loves to play Kendama here.

We’ve seen a few people kayak/canoe up and down this river, so now it’s my goal to hop on the trend this summer — fingers crossed! I’d love to take my dogs kayaking; I’m always so jealous when I see people paddle boarding with their puppers! It makes my heart so full.

These pictures definitely don’t do this place justice. Even in the winter when all the plants are dead, it still remains my happy place.

What’s your all’s happy place? I’d love to hear about them!

  1. Oh this place is beautiful! I would love to have a place like this near where I live, but I’m drop dead in the middle of the city. It’s so sweet though, to have a happy place like that πŸ’–πŸ’™

    1. The nature spots are the one good thing about living in the country! They’re so serene. ✨ Definitely worth the trip!

      1. It’s very peaceful, but definitely gets boring after a while. The grass is always greener on the other side, as they say! Lol
